About Us

After hitting the menopause at 39, suffering with severe anxiety and being diagnosed with chronic fatigue, among other things, I decided to look at ways I could take better care of my mental and physical health.

I began cold water therapy and being so close to the sea, meant I became a regular sea dipper. It inspires me, the ocean. Having been passionate about doing what I can for the planet for some time, I was always looking at ways to be a more conscious consumer .

Where do candles come into all of this hear you ask? Im getting there, bear with me. Candles have forever been my little treat to myself, the candle light, the scent, it can almost transport me to far away place or memory, most definitely part of my self care, so during our first lockdown, I bought myself a small candle making kit and WOW, the freedom?, it was mind blowing!! When I made candles I was free, I was calm, my mind was quiet. Welcome to the 'meditation of creation' I was hooked!!

Cefnfor candles was born. I was determined to find a way to make a candle that was kind. It took some time and lots of mistakes but I'm so proud to have a refillable candle and to be part of a circular economy.

My candles and my love of the ocean are so deeply connected. I often make candles after my sea swims and I pour all that positive energy into every single candle, and my hope, is when your candle arrives it brings you all the joy it brought me In creating it.

Our Motto is BE KIND

Be kind to ourselves, kind to each other, kind to the planet. Cefnfor is welsh for ocean, my candles are inspired by how and where I live. Living near the coast I see every day the affect waste has on our beautiful big blue pool.

Did you know we can’t recycle glass candle jars?

We burn over 400 million candles each year, that's a lot of empty jars!

It’s why here at Cefnfor we've created the never ending candle. One jar with an infinite amount of our custom made refills. My pots are handmade in Wales, each one unique, no two the same. I then lovingly make my candles using plant based wax, which is biodegradable and vegan. I use sustainable fragrances and essential oils, we are also a plastic free business and use minimal packaging to reduce waste

Candle Care

Unwrap your candle, pop it into your pot.

Attach the safety label

  • Before each burn, be sure to trim your wick - around 5mm. This will give a cleaner burn and reduce sooting. To avoid tunnelling try to burn your candle for around two hours, allowing the wax to melt to the edge of the pot.

  • Keep away from draughts, place on an even surface and never leave a lit candle unattended.

  • When your candle is almost at the bottom, around quarter inch left, very carefully add some hot water into a bowl and stand your pot in the water. Leave for a minute or two, allowing the wax to melt. The wax disc should slide out easily

  • Using some hot soapy water wash out your pot and dry thoroughly. Its ready for its next refill.

Thank you!
